There aren’t any “Life Rules” when it comes to the Game of Life! Even though that’s an undeniable truth, you can create your own “Game of Life” book, and the beauty is you can add whatever “Life Rules” you want to it.
The game of life can indeed be difficult to play, but it can also be very enjoyable if you follow your own guidance, set your own rules for it, and give it your best shot!
Know what you want out of life and go for it. You’ll never regret taking the risk, but you will be sorry when your time on Earth is over with nothing to show but a feeling that something was missing from this world.
During my near-death experience, I realized how many humans are not living up to their full potential in this one life they have.
Make sure every second count since you only live once! There is no better time than this to pursue your dreams. Don’t let fear hold you back. You can’t achieve happiness and growth if you won’t take risks. There is no additional life to live. Make this one life a brilliant one.
The following is my favorite William Ernest Henley quote:
“I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.”
William Ernest Henley
The quote reminds me that although we can’t control the environment we’re in, at least we can control our attitudes.
A positive attitude propels us into the future. When your attitude stinks, your life stinks too.
In other words, how often do you mentally assess your attitude?
Keeping track of your thoughts can be difficult in our fast-paced lifestyle, and when you aren’t aware of what’s going on, you may find that you start living your life by your thoughts.
Thus, awareness is the solution to all life’s mysteries!
When we neglect to keep ourselves grounded in reality, the power of our thoughts leads us into predictable patterns.
We need to identify the unhealthy patterns in their earliest stages before they take hold and do more damage.
Although we might not be conscious of it, our patterns of thoughts and feelings influence our minds. (For more tools to help you transform your life, visit our resources page.)
When I became 100% aware of my patterns, they helped me become more intentional.
Besides, with more intention, I was able to attract more wealth, joy, and fabulous relationships.
But, what should we be aware of in the first place?
The first thing to be aware of is the “fear of the unknown!”
Are you afraid of the unknown?
If you answered, YES, You’re not alone. Most people are afraid to take action because they don’t know what will happen next. They worry about making a mistake or failing, so they never try anything new! But there is a way out of this fear…and it starts with taking one small step today. In today’s post, I’ll help you get started and show you how to overcome your fears so that you can finally achieve success in your life and career!
When left unchecked, fear of the unknown can become a mental habit. We see a lot of negativity in our daily lives that cause us to feel that way. Do you remember “Pig-Pen” from Charlie Brown? Here is a gif to refresh your memory if you don’t remember or are unfamiliar with “Pig-Pen”.
Look at the GIF above for a moment and visualize your negative thoughts as this cloud surrounding you like dirt from Pig-Pen. Because it blocks your view of the possibilities, you only see the dirt.
We are negatively affected by this dirt cloud both personally and professionally. This cloud affects our thoughts. Therefore, it’s essential to adopt a winning, faith over doubt and fear attitude.
According to Amram Scheinfield, an expert on genetics, “In all the history of the world, there was never anyone else exactly like you, and in all the infinity of time to come, there will never be another.” It’s time to start thinking like the WONDERFUL person that you are.
You’re here on earth for a reason. When you allow things to unfold in divine timing but take responsibility at the same time, life can be fun.
I will now discuss how to succeed in the game of life. You’ll find 8 simple yet effective life rules to help you position yourself for greater success and fulfillment in life and business below.
Let’s begin!
1. Remember That You Control Your Attitude and How You React to Things
Most people react to situations. I will teach you to respond instead. Learning this is extremely important. I will illustrate this point with an example:
Outside, a neighbor waved you over. In the beginning, their conversation was pleasant, but within seconds it veered off into “Your tree keeps dropping debris onto my husband’s car, so we need you to pay for the tree to be taken down.” Despite having a two-car garage, her husband rarely parks in it. Your brain is about to explode. Before you say something reactive which you can’t take back, breathe, think, and respond instead of reacting.
I have had that happen to me when I lived in the DC Metro Area on the East Coast of the United States, and this is how I handled it:
Thank you, neighbor, for caring about this issue.
Seeing the tree in the morning is my favorite part of the day, and it has been here for a very long time. However, I would like you to enjoy living next to me, and here are my thoughts:
It would be detrimental to the environment to cut down the tree just for tree droppings. As an alternative to cutting the tree, I would be happy to trim the branches that hang over your side. In addition, I’ll come to rake the tree debris in your yard this weekend.
Thankfully, the neighbor was reasonable and we managed to resolve the issue amicably.
Keep in mind that you cannot control other people’s reactions or responses, but you can decide how you will respond. The best thing to do when someone treats you negatively is either to remain calm and deal with the issue at hand or to leave the situation rather than adding more negativity. There is no need to be rude when leaving a situation. You could simply say: “I appreciate you mentioning this to me. Let’s discuss this later when we both are in a more positive frame of mind.”
Remember this rule of life! Put your efforts into controlling what you can.
2. Start Reading Positive Affirmations or Motivational Material in the Morning
The first thing you do in the morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. You can make a significant difference in your day by utilizing that time wisely!
Personally, I think you have already won a day if you spend your first 15 minutes doing things that add value to your life.
Many adults spend the first part of the day reading news articles, checking their emails, or browsing social media. Hence reinforcing their previous beliefs and paradigms.
When you follow this rule regarding what you do first thing in the morning, it will benefit your entire day.
Instead of mindlessly scrolling through news articles or social media updates, read inspirational stories, say positive affirmations, or watch motivational videos.
If you must check your email or read the news, do so with caution. Do not let negativity cloud your day. That way, you’ll set yourself up for success.
Here are few affirmations to get you started:
3. Avoid Turning on The News When You Get Home
The feeling of walking through your front door after a long day at work is nothing short of amazing. However, if you want to avoid being dissatisfied with life in general, then I highly encourage you to steer clear of news channels when you get home these days. Their focus is too much on reporting negative stories about all that is wrong in America and the world.
Consider switching to something more entertaining so you aren’t reminded of how terrible things are all the time.
There are endless stories of violent acts and fear-mongering creating more fear and division. The constant consumption of such messages while at home has a strong impact on the mind. (more on how to strengthen your mind later in this post)
I know it might be hard to stay positive in this climate of fear and negativity. Nevertheless, look for sources reporting good news and not just negative stories. Once again, if you are constantly focusing on the negative, you are giving into it.
Before bedtime, avoid using any screens as much as you can to prepare your brain for restful sleep!
4. Ignore The Constant Complainers
Most of us have at least one person in our lives who is constantly complaining about how miserable life is. This life rule must be put into practice. Spend less time with complainers and more time with great, uplifting people!
Furthermore, it is important to note that your personality is shaped by the five people you spend the most time with. In-person and online interactions both fall under this category.
Our time online has increased due to the pandemic. You will always see at least one rant when you scroll through your friends’ social media feeds.
During the Pandemic, I have seen more posts containing profanity than rap songs.
I also noticed a common trend: people who complain have a general disdain for everyone and everything, which makes them believe everyone is out to get them.
A very useful feature of many social media accounts is the “Hide” feature. As soon as you start using it, you’ll see how much of a difference it makes.
My own personal position is that any bad things I observe or hear about do not concern me unless I can take swift action to correct them. Worrying about things you can’t control or fix is pointless.
5. Strengthen Your Mental Game
Using the right language and words can help you boost your mental health. By developing this skill, you will have the ability to combat harmful thoughts.
Furthermore, using empowering words contributes to building a positive self-image.
Whenever you feel empowered, you seem invincible due to the sense of confidence you exude and radiate.
With empowering language and words, you strengthen your mind. Often, we’re not even aware of how we are affected by our language.
Are you aware that saying negative things like “I can’t” or “It’s too hard.” can make someone feel weak?
People won’t try as hard when they say these statements because it is so easy to blame themselves instead of taking responsibility. In contrast, when using positive reinforcement, such as “I will do my best!” or “I can do this”, the self-belief grows!
People who have a greater belief in their abilities become more confident people who have no doubts about their abilities.
6. Be Grateful
The power of gratitude transforms everything.
In addition to being happier when you express gratitude, you’ll become a better person and pursue your goals and dreams with greater devotion!
The feeling of gratitude helps people recognize just how fortunate they are.
One of the best remedies to feeling down is simply being grateful for what you have.
When was the last time you wrote down 5-10 things you were grateful for?
If it’s been a while, start now. Keep this list handy where you can see it. Make gratitude one of your life rules and see for yourself how everything changes. Read this post if you’d like a deeper look at the power of gratitude.

7. Take Ownership Over Your Life
Taking responsibility for one’s actions, thoughts, and life can be difficult. Nevertheless, taking responsibility for one’s mistakes, owning one’s successes, and stopping the blame game is fundamental.
By blaming other individuals, events, or circumstances, you are handing them control of your life. It’s almost as if you are giving these things total control of your life, your circumstances, even your career.
Don’t let your circumstances control your life. Stop victimizing yourself, and keep moving forward! If you make changes, you’ll live a better life!
As a result of taking ownership over your life, you gain self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-respect. No matter what circumstance you find yourself in, taking responsibility for your actions is important to a fulfilling, and healthy life.
Knowing how the way you think, feel, and behave influence your life gives you the power to take ownership over your energy and vibration. It’s all energy. Make your life better by vibrating higher.
We are responsible for what happens in our physical reality. While I know you might be unsure about this statement, please indulge me for a moment…
The things we hold dear inside our inner world are the things we project outward. As a result, it becomes our reality! Please view this video for an introduction to the scale of consciousness and its effect on creating our reality.
In spite of where things stand, take ownership of all your life affairs; don’t be a prisoner of your circumstances. Make your own decisions, be willing to learn from setbacks or failures, and be the change you want to see in the world.
8. Remember That No One is Perfect
I’m not perfect and neither are you.
It’s true that no one is perfect, but we all have strengths and weaknesses which makes us human. We don’t need to be afraid of our imperfections because it’s what makes us who we are!
Besides, all of us make mistakes. This is a commonsense rule that governs our lives.
However, it’s important not to let the mistakes you made in the past ruin your present. Learning to forgive and let go so you can move forward when playing life’s game is important.
In other words, if you are alive, you are participating in the glorious game of life.
Though life can be awesome, there are bound to be detours and setbacks. For a moment, let’s be honest. Do you know any person who has no problems at all? Problems affect even the happiest people, but how they cope with them is what makes a difference.
It is natural for us humans to place too much importance on the physical world. After all, we are living in the physical world. But, now is the time to let go of all the distractions and focus on the present moment. Believe in yourself and lead with positive intention.
