Why I Stopped READING Books and Why You Should Too!

I always loved reading books. As I grew older and life started to get in the way, I had to uplevel my reading ability. Discover the simple lifehack that I used to read over 1100+ books.

One of the questions I get asked a lot when it comes to my take on reading books is “Zane, what books do you recommend?”

Well, I have hundreds of books that I can recommend to you.

But honestly without knowing what your vision is and what goals you get to achieve I really can’t just tell you to read this book or that book.

Now, the truth is I don’t read most of the books I own, and that may come as a shock to you.

And here’s what I mean by that?

Most people read a book from cover to cover.

And if that’s you, please know that there’s nothing wrong with that and that you’re ahead of 99 of others who are not reading anything at all!

But, realistically the thought of starting and finishing a 300+ pages book sounds quite daunting, and in retrospect, it’s preventing a lot of people from reading in the first place.

The truth is each given book is loaded with so much goodness that in reality if you want to learn and implement what the book taught it’d take you a long time if not forever.

This makes the idea of reading so overwhelming.

In the end, most people forgo reading altogether.

But here is a lifehack that worked for me and for my 100s of students that I taught over the years.

Whenever I read a book, I scan through the book with the purpose of finding 1-3 big ideas that the book teaches and that I can implement in my life right now, and I only study that.

Doing so has enabled me to read over 1,100 books in the past few years.

Currently, I read, on average, a book a week and implement whatever is necessary to help me expand my consciousness and multiply my wealth.

And every now and then, I still find those treasure troves of books and wind up reading the book cover to cover.

So, in essence, I don’t really READ books.

I use books as roadmaps to find key principles and execute them with intention.
