Say “You’re Sorry!”.
Are you going to apologize?
You owe me an apology!
Does any of the statements above sound familiar?
Since an early age, we are being taught to be polite!
To apologize when we are wrong, to not try to offend anyone.
While parents are encouraged to teach their youngsters these core values at such an early age, it can be taken a bit far and be turned into an unhealthy habit.
Don’t get me, wrong, peeps!
Saying sorry is very important when you are clearly in the wrong, or if you hurt someone intentionally or unintentionally in any shape or form.
But there are certain things that you owe to yourself that it’s a SIN to apologize for in my opinion!
These are things that you get to practice yourself and if you happened to be a parent teach your youngsters too!
I love how The Power of Positivity has illustrated these 10 things in a short and sweet video – please watch below:
Quite a nice video!
Do you agree?
I personally love the video!
For those who love to read instead of watching a video clip, you’re in luck cause I transcribed the video and added a little commentary to stimulate your thinking – I hope you enjoy!
10 Things You Should Never Apologize For Not Now, Not Ever!
1. Needing alone time
Alone time is nessary.
I take it a step further, “Me time is a sacred time!”
It’s a time to recover, rejuvenate and regroup so you can bring your A-Game.
Never apologize for that!
2. Speaking your mind
Speaking your mind without being an “As*hole” about it is perfectly fine.
I believe honesty is the BEST policy!
And let’s be real, eventually, you’ll rub someone off the wrong way but hey, you can’t please everyone.
Ps. You only live once – don’t hide under a rock!
3. Asking for help
If you need help, ask for it!
Yup, it’s as simple as that!
4. Taking time to respond to messages
Life can get hectic at times.
Between juggling family, work, some travel, and other urgent things, emails and messages tend to pile up.
Don’t stress over it. You’re doing your best! Keep up the GREAT work!
5. Your past mistakes
Your past mistakes are like battle scars, never be ashamed of them!
Acknowledge that you made a mistake, learned your lesson from it, and now you live in the present moment fully restored!
And remember the past is gone, so don’t dwell too much in it.
6. Saying No
While saying “YES” is much easier than saying “No”, yet still there are times where a “No” is the only response.
So, if you’re ever in that situation, just say “No.” and shut up!
The minute you start to apologize and justify, then you’re giving a mixed signal to the other party. So say “No.” and stick with it.
7. Having a Messy House
Let’s be real, homes are meant to be lived in.
A home is not a picture from a catalog. A home is a place where the living happens, and sometimes things get a bit messy.
Don’t fret it too much but also don’t let it go too far too! Balance is the key.
Here’s what I do to keep a fresh and clear house.
8. Telling The Truth
Who has the time to keep up with white little lies that you might say?
I certainly don’t.
That’s why I adopted this mantra:
Honesty is the best policy!
9. Celebrate Your Wins
When you’re succeeding in life as an adult or in school or college as a youngster, celebrate it!
Don’t dim your light, shine bright like a diamond!
10. How You Really feel
Your feelings are yours. So, never be ashamed of them.
Feel your feeling, it’s better than bottling them up.
In essence, life is too short to spend it apologizing for this and that.
So make this your motto: aim to hurt no one but at the same time aim not to hurt yourself too by denying your authentic self to shine.
Simple, yet profound.
